SWOT Analysis

You are nurse leaders who serve on the Administrative Board in an organization. The Executive Board has asked you to perform a SWOT Analysis to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the internal environment as well as the opportunities and threats of the external environment. Based on your analysis, you will propose two strategic initiatives for the organization’s strategic five-year plan for which resources will be allocated.

Select one of the following options to present your SWOT Analysis.

Option A

  • Prepare a 12- to 15-slide presentation to deliver to the Executive Board in which you:

o    Conduct a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis in which you:

  • Identify the strengths of your organization.
  • Identify the weaknesses of your organization.
  • Identify one opportunity for each of the six external environment factors:
  • Technological
  • Political
  • Competitive
  • Regulatory
  • Social
  • Economic

 

  • Identify one threat for each of the six external environment factors:
  • Technological
  • Political
  • Competitive
  • Regulatory
  • Social
  • Economic
  • Propose two initiatives for the organization’s strategic five-year plan.
  • Justify allocating resources for these initiatives.
  • Explain the effect of the external environment on strategic management.
  • Explain the role of leadership in strategic management. 
  • Include detailed speaker notes.
  • Support your conclusions with at least five references.

 

Option B

  • Prepare a 1,050- to 1,750-word Executive Summary in which you:

o    Conduct a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis in which you:

  • Identify the strengths of your organization.
  • Identify the weaknesses of your organization.
  • Identify one opportunity for each of the six external environment factors:
  • Technological
  • Political
  • Competitive
  • Regulatory
  • Social
  • Economic
